Social & Emotional Learning
Social and emotional development is just as important as academic progress. When students feel comfortable and confident in themselves, they are more likely to enjoy learning and try new things.
Our class will use Lifelong Guidelines and Life Skills this year to create an environment that prioritizes respect, safety, and support for all. These guidelines and skills help children understand how to interact with others and develop the emotional and social skills they need to be successful in school and life.
The lifelong guidelines that we use are:
Trustworthiness
Truthfulness
Active Listening
Personal Best
Being Positive
Learning and using these guidelines help students understand how to be accountable for their actions and how to work together with others.
The life skills that support these guidelines are:
Caring
Common Sense
Cooperation
Courage
Curiosity
Effort
Flexibility
Friendship
Initiative
Integrity
Organization
Patience
Perseverance
Problem-Solving
Responsibility
Sense of Humor
Social and emotional development is a collaborative effort between home and school. Please help me reinforce these skills and guidelines at home so that together we can help your child reach their full potential!
